Horizontal subgrade reaction coefficient for foundation piles: For the analysis of piles subjected to horizontal forces and in the buckling verification, it is necessary to know the horizontal subgrade reaction coefficient.
In the following program, the modulus is determined by the Chiarugi Maia formula. According to this formula, kh is a function of: Oedometer modulus, pile elastic modulus, pile diameter, Poisson’s ratio.
Chiarugi Maia method

Ed: Oedometer modulus
u: Poisson’s ratio
Ep: Pile elastic modulus
D: Pile diameter
J: Moment of inertia of the section if circular {J = π · D4 / 64}
If it varies linearly with depth (NC soils or cohesionless soils)
kh = kh ´ z / D
z: depth (evaluated at the middle of the layer).
